Mahi mahi bonanza north of Grand Case

Left the small harbor at Grand Case and ran north to a weed line about 10 miles out. The mahi were piled up thick under the debris. We caught over 20 mahi on light tackle with the biggest going 40 pounds. Grand Case is the gourmet capital of the Caribbean and the fishing matches the food.

Shore fishing the reef at Grand Case beach

Waded out from Grand Case beach at sunrise and cast metal jigs along the reef edge. The bar jacks and blue runners were crushing anything shiny. I also hooked a nice cero mackerel that put up an incredible fight on my ultralight setup. You can catch excellent fish right from shore here.

Yellowfin tuna at the FADs were on fire

Made the run to the offshore FADs north of St. Martin and found yellowfin tuna busting bait everywhere. We chunked with fresh bonito and hooked into tuna on nearly every piece. Landed five yellowfin between 35 and 65 pounds. The charter captain from Grand Case really knew his stuff.
