Chinook Running Hard in the Strait
The Strait of Juan de Fuca was loaded with Chinook salmon pushing west and we trolled right into the thick of it. Herring rigs behind flashers at 45 feet were the ticket — boat limits of kings to 25 pounds by midmorning. Sekiu's location in the Strait gives you first crack at returning salmon.

Halibut Slamming on the Drift
Drifted the sandy flats in 220 feet and the Pacific halibut were eating everything we put down. Herring, squid, octopus — they didn't care. Limits of halibut to 50 pounds with the average fish going 25. Sekiu's halibut grounds are close-in and productive — a hidden gem.

Lingcod and Rockfish Close to Port
Fished the reef structure just minutes from the Sekiu dock and put together a nice mixed bag. Four lingcod keepers to 18 pounds on swimbaits and full rockfish limits on the lighter gear. Short run, good fish, and back at the dock by noon — exactly what the clients wanted.
