Savannah tidal creeks are a redfish paradise
Explored the winding tidal creeks near Savannah and found schools of redfish feeding along the oyster bars on the falling tide. Threw gold spoons on light tackle and hooked eight gorgeous slot reds. The Savannah marsh system is one of the most beautiful and productive redfish fisheries on the Georgia coast.

Flounder slam in the Savannah River
Anchored along the channel edges of the Savannah River and dropped live mud minnows to the bottom. The flounder were piled up on every sandy transition and we landed 10 beautiful flatfish. The Savannah River provides incredible structure and current flow that flounder love.

Speckled trout were crushing topwater at dawn
Hit the grass flats in the tidal creeks at first light and the speckled trout were exploding on topwater plugs in the still water. Landed 16 solid trout with several over 21 inches. The early morning topwater bite in Savannah's creeks is as good as it gets in Georgia.

Sheepshead stacked on the dock pilings
Fished fiddler crabs around the dock pilings and bridge structure in the Savannah River and the sheepshead were biting on every drop. Landed 14 fat sheepies between 3 and 5 pounds. Winter sheepshead fishing in Savannah is some of the most consistent action on the Georgia coast.

Tarpon rolling in the river at sunrise
Spotted tarpon rolling in the deeper channels of the Savannah River at dawn and free-lined live mullet into the current. Hooked three tarpon and landed a beautiful 90-pounder after a 40-minute battle. The Savannah tarpon fishery runs from late May through August and is absolutely electric.

Black drum were crushing crab on the oyster bars
Fished cut blue crab on the oyster bars in the Savannah marsh system and the black drum were feeding hard. Landed six black drum between 15 and 30 pounds on heavy tackle. These powerful fish put up an incredible fight in the shallow water. Savannah is a black drum hotspot.
