Flew to Cat Island specifically for the winter wahoo run and it did not disappoint. First morning out we high-speed trolled Rapala magnums along the east coast dropoff and my rod bent double. After a screaming run the captain gaffed a wahoo that weighed 78 pounds on the dock scale. We caught four more wahoo that day between 40 and 60 pounds. Cat Island is the wahoo capital of the world — the deep water on every side of the island makes it absolutely special.
