Read MoreFished the oyster bars and grass flats in Winyah Bay and found schools of redfish pushing bait along the shoreline. Threw gold spoons and Z-Man paddletails into the schools and hooked up on nearly every cast. Landed 14 reds with several over 27 inches — Georgetown is a redfish factory.
Went out at night with the gigging lights in Winyah Bay and the flounder were everywhere on the sandy bottom. Gigged 10 beautiful flatfish and had an amazing lowcountry dinner the next evening. Georgetown's waters hold some of the biggest flounder on the Grand Strand.
Drifted live shrimp under popping corks along the bends and deeper channels in Winyah Bay and the speckled trout were stacked. Landed 22 specks with the biggest going 23 inches. The tidal flow in Georgetown creates perfect ambush points for trout all winter long.
Spotted cobia cruising the surface near the Georgetown Lighthouse and pitched live eels right in their path. Hooked three solid cobia and landed two fish around 40 pounds each. The bay funnels these fish right through Georgetown and the sight-fishing is unmatched.
Ran out of Winyah Bay to the nearshore and offshore wrecks and the king mackerel were biting aggressively on live menhaden. Boated seven kings, including a 35-pounder that smoked 200 yards of line on the first run. Georgetown offers easy access to incredible offshore fishing.
Found a massive school of bull red drum near the mouth of Winyah Bay on the outgoing tide. Cut bait on the bottom produced nonstop action with reds between 30 and 42 inches. These are some of the biggest redfish on the South Carolina coast and Georgetown is ground zero for them.
