Altamaha River delta redfish were incredible
Fished the Altamaha River delta and found massive schools of redfish feeding on the flats at low tide. Threw gold spoons into the schools and it was nonstop hookups. Landed 14 slot reds — the Altamaha delta is one of the most productive redfish habitats on the entire Georgia coast.

Flounder loaded in the Altamaha channels
Anchored along the channel edges of the Altamaha River delta and dropped live mud minnows to the bottom. The flounder were stacked on every sandy transition between the marsh grass and the deeper water. Landed nine gorgeous flatfish — the Altamaha system produces some of Georgia's biggest flounder.

Speckled trout were schooled in the delta
Drifted live shrimp under popping corks through the Altamaha River delta and the speckled trout were hammering every bait. Landed 20 trout with the biggest going 23 inches. The nutrient-rich waters of the delta create a forage buffet that keeps trout here year-round.

Tarpon rolling in the Altamaha at dawn
Spotted tarpon rolling in the deeper channels of the Altamaha River delta at sunrise and free-lined live mullet into the current. Hooked three tarpon and landed a gorgeous 95-pounder. The Altamaha delta is a nutrient highway that draws tarpon in from the open ocean every summer.

Sheepshead were biting at every piling
Dropped fiddler crabs against the bridge pilings and dock structure in the Altamaha River near Darien and the sheepshead were crushing baits. Landed 13 fat sheepies between 3 and 5 pounds. Darien is a small fishing village with world-class sheepshead fishing right at the dock.

Shark fishing in the delta was wild
Set up with big cut baits in the Altamaha River delta channels and the sharks were patrolling the murky water. Hooked a massive bull shark that gave us an hour-long fight and also caught a beautiful spinner shark. The nutrient-rich Altamaha attracts big sharks all summer long.
