Pawleys Island creek fishing at its finest
Paddled the narrow tidal creeks behind Pawleys Island throwing soft plastics to redfish and speckled trout. The fish were tucked up against the oyster banks feeding on fiddler crabs. Landed seven reds and four specks in some of the most peaceful marsh scenery you will find anywhere.

Nearshore reefs produced a great mixed bag
Fished the nearshore reef structures off Pawleys Island and the bite was wide open. Caught king mackerel on live bait, black sea bass on the bottom, and even hooked a cobia that swam through. The variety of species within a few miles of shore here is incredible.

Flounder were piled up on the creek mouths
Anchored on the creek mouths draining into the marsh and fished live mud minnows on the bottom for flounder. The flatfish were ambushing bait on the falling tide and we landed nine gorgeous flounder. Pawleys Island is a flounder factory when the tide is right.

Red drum tailing in the marsh grass
Waded the shallow marsh flats behind Pawleys at low tide and found red drum tailing in the grass. Sight-casted shrimp patterns on a fly rod and hooked six reds between 20 and 26 inches. This is as close to bonefishing as you can get in South Carolina.

Offshore wrecks were on fire
Ran out to the offshore artificial reefs and wrecks from Pawleys Island and the fish were stacked from bottom to top. Caught mahi, king mackerel, and amberjack all on the same trip. When the offshore bite is on at Pawleys, there's no place I'd rather be.

Winter speckled trout bite was phenomenal
Drifted live shrimp through the deeper creek channels behind Pawleys Island and the speckled trout were fired up. Landed 15 specks with several over 20 inches. The marsh creeks here hold trout all winter long and the pressure is minimal compared to other Grand Strand spots.
