Umpqua River Chinook on the Bite
The Umpqua River Chinook run was pushing hard and we trolled plugs through the tidewater section with incredible results. Limits of chrome-bright kings for a 4-pack charter — every fish was a hatchery brood stock fish between 18 and 32 pounds. Winchester Bay delivers when the fall run peaks.

Chinook Salmon
Striped Bass Blitz in the Lower Umpqua
Found striped bass corralling bait in the lower Umpqua near the jetties and it was nonstop action on live sand shrimp and swimbaits. Boated 15 keeper stripers to 18 pounds — they were aggressive and fought hard in the current. Winchester Bay's striper fishery is seriously underrated.

Striped Bass
Rockfish and Lingcod Off the Jetty
Fished the reef structure just outside the Winchester Bay jetties and put together a solid day of rockfish and lingcod. Black rockfish were eating on every drop and we picked up three nice lings to 16 pounds on swimbaits between the rockfish sets. Quick access to great bottom fishing right out the door.
