The stone waterfront along Marigot Bay offers casual casting access between the market stalls and marina. Mangrove snapper hold tight to the seawall, and jacks patrol the harbor mouth during tidal changes.

Marigot's waterfront is walkable and fishable. Target the harbor mouth on moving tides for jacks and barracuda. The Sandy Ground bridge is a local hot spot — fish it during tidal changes. Light spinning gear (10-15 lb) handles most shore species. Early morning and dusk produce the best action.

Regulations

French-side Saint-Martin follows French fishing regulations. No license is required for recreational shore fishing with rod and reel. Spearfishing is restricted to certain areas. Respect marine reserve boundaries around Tintamarre and Pinel islands.

Outstanding marlin fishing from Marigot

Departed Marigot harbor and trolled north into the deep water off Anguilla Bank. Raised two blue marlin and released a beautiful 300-pounder after a thrilling fight. The French side of St. Martin offers excellent access to deep water and the charter fleet here is top-notch. A truly memorable day.

Reef fishing off Marigot was spectacular

Fished the beautiful reef systems north of Marigot and the variety was incredible. We caught yellowtail snapper, schoolmaster snapper, cero mackerel, and a gorgeous bar jack all in one morning. The crystal-clear water let us watch every strike. Afterward we had a wonderful French lunch back at the marina.

Caught wahoo on our honeymoon trip

My wife and I booked a private charter out of Marigot for our honeymoon and it was the highlight of our trip. We each caught a beautiful wahoo over 30 pounds and the captain grilled fresh sashimi right on the boat. The views of St. Martin from the water are breathtaking. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
