Set up at the mouth of Bayou Grand Caillou and the speckled trout were feeding on the tide change. Caught them on soft plastics and live shrimp, keeping a limit of beautiful fish. Houma is the gateway to some of the best trout water on the Cajun Coast.
Explored the vast marsh network south of Houma and the fishing was extraordinary. Caught redfish in the ponds, speckled trout on the points, and sheepshead on the oyster beds. This area offers endless water to explore and fish that have barely seen a lure.
The bull redfish were pushing up the bayous around Houma in big schools. We threw topwater plugs and had explosive strikes from fish over 30 inches. The sight of those bronze backs crashing bait in the shallow bayous is something you never forget.
Targeted black drum on the oyster reefs in Terrebonne Parish and they were biting aggressively. Using fresh dead shrimp, we caught them steadily all morning with several fish over 15 pounds. Houma offers incredible variety for the inshore angler.
Spent the whole day fishing the marshes and bayous outside Houma. The redfish were tailing everywhere in the shallow ponds and we caught over 30 fish on light tackle. Finished with a Cajun-style fish fry at the dock. This is Louisiana fishing at its finest.
