Booking Tips

Rincon is about 30 minutes south of BQN airport. Book offshore charters 1-2 weeks ahead during winter months when surf crowds fill the town. Morning trips are best to beat afternoon trade winds. Many captains depart from the Rincon marina or nearby Añasco.

Rincon Lighthouse Point

The rocky point below the historic Punta Higuero lighthouse offers casting access to deep water where jacks and barracuda hunt baitfish in the swirling currents of the Mona Passage.

Domes Beach Rocks

The volcanic rock formations at Domes Beach create pockets of deeper water close to shore. Cast metal jigs and poppers for jacks and blue runners that feed aggressively in the turbulent water.

Añasco River Mouth

Tactics

Regulations

A Puerto Rico saltwater fishing license is required for anglers 16 and older. Tres Palmas Marine Reserve is catch-and-release only. Check DNER regulations for current restrictions.

Blue marlin alley lived up to its name

Trolled the deep water off Rincon's west coast where the shelf drops fast into the Mona Passage and raised three blue marlin before noon. We released a gorgeous 350-pound blue and also boated a fat wahoo and two nice blackfin tuna. The marlin fishing off Rincon is as good as anywhere in the Caribbean.

Shore fishing Rincon was a blast

Fished from the rocky points along Rincon's coastline and the action was fantastic. Caught several nice jacks on topwater poppers and hooked into a big barracuda that screamed drag for a solid five minutes. The sunset views while fishing the shoreline made it even more special. You don't need a boat to catch great fish here.

Yellowfin tuna blitz in the Mona Passage

Hit the deep water in the Mona Passage and found yellowfin tuna busting bait on the surface. We threw poppers and stickbaits into the frenzy and hooked up on almost every cast. Landed six yellowfin between 30 and 60 pounds. Rincon offshore fishing is absolutely world-class when the tuna show up.
