Sight-Casting Reds in Aransas Bay
Poled the shallow flats of Aransas Bay and found redfish tailing in gin-clear water. Sight-cast to over 20 fish with fly rods and light spin tackle. Rockport offers some of the finest sight-fishing for redfish anywhere on the Gulf Coast.

Speckled Trout Were Biting All Day
Drifted the grass beds in Aransas Bay and caught speckled trout steadily from sunup to sundown. Used soft plastics under popping corks and the fish were aggressive. Kept our limit of solid 2 to 3 pounders. Rockport is a trout fishing paradise.

Wade Fishing the Flats Was Phenomenal
Waded the sand and grass flats off Rockport and spotted redfish pushing wakes in every direction. Made long casts with topwater plugs and the blowups were explosive. This is classic Texas coastal sight-fishing and Rockport is the epicenter.

Black Drum on the Shell Reefs
Targeted black drum on the oyster reefs in Aransas Bay and they were biting aggressively on dead shrimp. Caught several over 10 pounds that fought hard on the light tackle. Mixed in some nice sheepshead too. Rockport in winter is severely underrated.

Estes Flats Delivered the Goods
Hit the famous Estes Flats on the north side of Aransas Bay and found redfish tailing in the turtle grass. Sight-cast to them with gold spoons and connected on most presentations. Rockport and its surrounding flats are a redfish angler dream destination.

Trout and Reds Mixed Together on the Flats
Worked the transition zones between grass and sand in Aransas Bay and found both speckled trout and redfish feeding together. The trout were on the deeper edges and the reds were shallow. A perfect Rockport combo that filled the cooler with variety.
