Pink Salmon Blitz in the Strait
It was a pink salmon year and the Strait of Juan de Fuca was absolutely packed with them. Trolled small pink hoochies and had non-stop hookups all morning — boated over 30 pinks to 6 pounds. Mixed in a couple bonus Chinook to 18 pounds. Port Angeles during a pink year is pure chaos.

Halibut on the Ediz Hook Flats
Drifted the sandy bottom off Ediz Hook and found halibut stacked on a productive stretch in 180 feet. Spreader bars with herring produced six keepers to 40 pounds — every drift was a bite. Port Angeles' protected waters in the Strait mean you can fish halibut when the ocean is blown out.

Lingcod Stacking Up at the Reef
Jigged the rocky reef east of the harbor and connected with quality lingcod throughout the tide change. Five keepers to 22 pounds on 6-ounce swimbaits worked close to the bottom. The Strait's currents push bait right over these reefs and the lings set up an ambush — textbook fishing.
