Stripers at the Connecticut River Mouth Were Stacked
Fished the mouth of the Connecticut River at Old Saybrook and the Striped Bass were loaded up on the outgoing tide. Threw bucktails and live eels and had fish on every cast. The river mouth is one of the best striper spots in Connecticut.

Bluefish Were Crushing Bait in the Sound
Ran out of Old Saybrook into Long Island Sound and found Bluefish chasing bait on the surface for miles. Cast poppers and had explosive strikes from fish up to 12 pounds. Mixed in some nice Stripers along the way. Outstanding day of fishing.

Fluke at the River Mouth Were Thick
Drifted the mouth of the Connecticut River where it meets Long Island Sound and the Fluke were stacked on the sand edges. Bounced bucktails with minnows and had nonstop action. Old Saybrook is a phenomenal Fluke fishing destination in the summer months.

Spring Run Up the Connecticut River
Fished the Connecticut River near Old Saybrook during the spring striper migration and the fish were pushing upstream in huge numbers. Trolled along the river bends and hooked up consistently. Old Saybrook is perfectly positioned where the river meets the Sound.

Fall Migration Brought Big Fish
The fall Striped Bass migration through the Connecticut River mouth was outstanding. Large schools of bass staged at the river mouth before heading south. Caught several fish over 35 inches on soft plastics and bucktails. Old Saybrook in October is prime time.

Old Saybrook sits at the mouth of the longest river in New England and the fishing here reflects that. Rich nutrient waters attract baitfish and the gamefish follow. We caught Stripers, Bluefish, and Fluke all in one incredible day. A true Connecticut gem.
