English Harbour is about 30 minutes from ANU airport on Antigua's south coast. This is a premier yachting destination with experienced charter captains. Book 1-2 weeks ahead; during Antigua Sailing Week (late April), book well in advance. Full-day offshore trips to the deep banks south of Antigua produce the biggest fish.

Nelson's Dockyard Seawall

Pier Fishing

The historic stone seawall of Nelson's Dockyard offers atmospheric shore fishing in a UNESCO World Heritage setting. Mangrove snapper and grunts hold along the wall, and jacks patrol the harbor entrance at dawn and dusk.

Accessible from the dockyard area, Galleon Beach provides casting access to the reef edge off Freeman's Bay. Jacks and barracuda cruise the point, and yellowtail snapper school over the reef structure.

The rocky point at Pigeon Beach extends into the channel between English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour. Strong currents concentrate baitfish here, attracting barracuda and large jacks.

Pier Fishing

The superyacht marina at Falmouth Harbour has dock areas accessible for shore fishing. Snapper and grunts hold under the floating docks, and tarpon occasionally cruise the deeper harbor basin in the evening.

English Harbour offers shore fishing in one of the Caribbean's most scenic and historic settings. The narrow harbor entrance creates tidal currents that concentrate fish. Target the harbor mouth during tidal changes for the best action. Use 10-20 lb spinning gear. Night fishing under dock lights can be exceptional for snapper.

Regulations

Antigua and Barbuda does not currently require a recreational fishing license for shore fishing. Nelson's Dockyard is a national park — respect all park rules. Spearfishing is regulated.

World-class marlin out of Nelson's Dockyard

Departed historic English Harbour at Nelson's Dockyard and trolled the deep south coast of Antigua. Raised four blue marlin in a single day and released two — the biggest was easily over 500 pounds. English Harbour has been a legendary sailing port for centuries and the marlin fishing is just as legendary.

Wahoo alley delivered big time

Fished the south coast dropoff where the shelf plunges into deep water and the wahoo were screaming. High-speed trolled Rapalas and bonita strips and boated six wahoo, with the biggest tipping the scale at 62 pounds. English Harbour is perfectly positioned for access to the best wahoo grounds around Antigua.

Inshore fishing around Falmouth Harbour

Stayed close to shore and fished the rocky points and reef edges between English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour. The snapper and jack fishing was phenomenal. We caught cubera snapper, horse-eye jacks, and several beautiful bar jacks on light tackle. The historic backdrop of the old fortifications made it even more special.
