Chilkat River Kings — Trophy Class
Fished the Chilkat River for returning king salmon and the fish were stacked in the deep pools. Drifted roe clusters through the holding water and connected with a 45-pound trophy king on the second drift. Three more kings to 35 pounds followed. Haines produces the biggest river kings in the Lynn Canal.

Sockeye Salmon Flooding the Chilkoot
The Chilkoot Lake sockeye run was at its peak and the river was red with fish. Used small flies and beads to hook into these hard-fighting reds — boated and released over 20 fish with limits retained for the smoker. Haines' sockeye run is one of the most reliable in Southeast Alaska.

Halibut in the Lynn Canal
Motored into the Lynn Canal and set up on a halibut bank in 250 feet. The first drift produced a 60-pound barn door and we went on to land four more keepers. The Lynn Canal's deep waters hold impressive halibut and the mountain scenery surrounding Haines is beyond anything you'll see in the lower 48.
