Savannah River mouth was loaded with reds
Fished the structure around the Savannah River mouth near the jetties and the redfish were schooled up thick on the outgoing tide. Threw live shrimp on jig heads and it was nonstop action. Landed 11 slot reds — Tybee Island sits at the perfect confluence of river and ocean.

Jetty fishing for sheepshead was incredible
Dropped fiddler crabs along the Tybee Island jetties and the sheepshead were stacked on the rocks. Every drop produced a bite and we landed a dozen fat sheepies between 3 and 6 pounds. The Savannah River jetties are a sheepshead angler's dream spot.

Flounder were ambushing bait in the river mouth
Drifted live finger mullet through the channels near the Savannah River mouth and the flounder were parked on every sandy ledge. Landed nine gorgeous flatfish with the biggest going over 5 pounds. The river mouth current creates perfect ambush points for big flounder.

Shark fishing off the jetties was wild
Set up with big baits near the Tybee Island jetties and the sharks were cruising the river mouth looking for food. Hooked into a 6-foot blacktip that gave us a 30-minute fight on heavy tackle. Also tangled with some bull sharks. Tybee shark fishing is a thrill ride.

Explored the tidal creeks behind Tybee Island with soft plastics and the speckled trout were stacked in every deep hole. Landed 18 trout with the biggest pushing 22 inches. The creek systems around Tybee hold trout all through the cooler months.

Tarpon blowing up in the river channel
Spotted tarpon busting bait in the Savannah River channel near Tybee at dawn and free-lined live mullet to them. Hooked two tarpon and landed a gorgeous 80-pounder. The Savannah River mouth funnels bait and tarpon follow. Tybee tarpon fishing is Georgia's best-kept secret.
