World-Record Water — Monster Kings on the Kenai
Drifted the Kenai River's trophy stretch and hooked into a king salmon that nearly emptied the reel. The fish went 62 pounds and took 30 minutes to land in the heavy current — this is the river that produces world records and today I understand why. Three more kings to 45 pounds rounded out an unforgettable day.

Sockeye Combat Fishing at Its Finest
The second run of sockeye poured into the Kenai and the river turned red with fish. Flipped flies from the gravel bar and hooked into reds on almost every cast — retained our limits of gorgeous 8 to 10 pound sockeye for the freezer. The Kenai sockeye run is the most prolific fishery in Alaska.

Halibut Off the River Mouth
Launched from the Kenai River mouth into Cook Inlet and set up on a halibut bank in 120 feet. Drifted herring on the strong tidal current and connected with five keepers from 20 to 55 pounds. The Kenai offers the rare opportunity to catch world-class salmon and halibut on the same trip.
