Yellowtail Blitzing the Channel Islands
Ran to Santa Cruz Island and found yellowtail tearing through sardine schools on the surface. Cast surface iron into the melee and it was an instant hookup every time. Landed 12 yellows from 18 to 32 pounds — arms were jelly by noon but nobody complained.

Ghost Seabass at the Kelp Edge
The white seabass gods smiled on us today — boated three legal fish to 45 pounds soaking live squid along the kelp lines off Goleta. These ghost fish are notoriously picky but the squid run brought them in close. Each fish was a heart-pounding battle on 25-pound test.

Halibut Drifting the Sandy Stretches
Drifted live anchovies along the sandy bottom off Carpinteria in 40 feet and connected with quality halibut throughout the morning. Five keepers came aboard with the best going 14 pounds. Also picked up a couple calico bass on the lighter rigs while waiting for the flatties to commit.
