Grand Anse Fishing

Grand Anse is Grenada's famous two-mile beach and the island's main resort area. Charter boats depart from nearby marinas to fish the deep waters where blue marlin, wahoo, and mahi mahi are plentiful. The beach itself offers shore fishing for jacks and barracuda, and the nearby reefs provide excellent snorkeling between fishing sessions.

Grand Anse is just 10 minutes from GND airport and 15 minutes from the St. George's cruise terminal. Charter boats depart from the Spice Island Marina or arrange beach pickups at Grand Anse. Book 1-2 weeks ahead during high season. The calm leeward waters off Grand Anse make for comfortable trips year-round.

Grand Anse Beach South End

Shore Fishing

The south end of Grenada's famous two-mile beach has rocky outcrops and reef structure close to shore. Jacks and barracuda chase baitfish in the morning, and snapper hold around the submerged rocks. Wade or cast from the sand.

Morne Rouge Bay (BBC Beach)

The small sheltered bay just south of Grand Anse offers calm-water fishing from the beach or rocks. Yellowtail snapper and grunts feed around the reef, and blue runners school in the shallows. A peaceful spot away from the crowds.

Quarantine Point

Shore Fishing

The rocky point separating Grand Anse from Morne Rouge drops into deeper water and attracts larger predators. Cast heavy metal jigs from the rocks for crevalle jacks and barracuda, with occasional kingfish passing through.

Magazine Beach Reef

Shore Fishing

The reef fronting Magazine Beach near the airport is within wading and casting distance. Yellowtail snapper and various reef species feed on the shallow reef. Light jigs and cut bait produce consistent catches.

Tactics

Grand Anse's calm leeward beach is perfect for wade-fishing. The south end of the beach near the rocky points holds the most fish. Fish early morning before the beach fills with swimmers. Use 10-15 lb spinning gear on the beach, heavier gear (20 lb) at Quarantine Point. The reef at Magazine Beach offers productive light-tackle fishing.

Regulations

Grenada does not currently require a recreational fishing license for shore fishing. Respect hotel beach areas and avoid casting near swimmers. Spearfishing while scuba diving is prohibited. Check with the Grenada Fisheries Division for current regulations.

Sailfish surprise off Grand Anse Beach

Trolled the deep water just offshore from Grand Anse Beach and hooked into an unexpected sailfish that put on an aerial show for 20 minutes. After the release we picked up two wahoo and a beautiful mahi. The sailfish catch was a first for me off Grenada's west coast — what a thrill.

Reef fishing off Grand Anse was picture-perfect

Fished the reef system just offshore from Grand Anse Beach and the variety of species was incredible. We caught yellowtail snapper, ocean triggerfish, cero mackerel, and a gorgeous queen angelfish that we released. The water was so clear we could see the coral gardens below. Grenada's reefs are pristine.

Night fishing for snapper was a unique experience

Did an evening nearshore trip off Grand Anse and anchored over a reef in about 60 feet of water as the sun went down. The mutton snapper and lane snapper came alive after dark, biting on cut squid on every drop. We boxed a dozen beautiful snapper under the stars. The captain prepared ceviche from our catch right on the boat.
