Port Royal Sound was absolutely stacked with reds
Fished the oyster bars and grass edges in Port Royal Sound and the redfish were tailing everywhere in the shallow water. Threw Z-Man paddletails on jig heads and hooked up on almost every cast. Landed 12 gorgeous slot redfish — Hilton Head is a redfish mecca.

Calibogue Sound flounder bite was on
Drifted live mud minnows along the channel edges in Calibogue Sound and the flounder were piled up on the ledges. Every drift produced bites and we landed nine beautiful flatfish. The sound systems around Hilton Head hold some of the biggest flounder in the lowcountry.

Cobia sight-fishing was incredible
Cruised the beaches off Hilton Head and spotted cobia cruising on the surface in the clear water. Pitched live eels and connected with five cobia, landing three solid fish over 40 pounds. Spring cobia season around Hilton Head is some of the best sight-fishing on the Southeast coast.

Sheepshead crushing fiddler crabs on the docks
Fished fiddler crabs around the dock pilings and bulkheads in the Hilton Head marina and the sheepshead bite was red hot. These bait-stealing masters were finally cooperating and we landed a dozen sheepshead up to 5 pounds. Great family-friendly fishing right in the harbor.

Speckled trout slam in Port Royal Sound
Worked soft plastics over the grass beds in Port Royal Sound and the speckled trout were smashing topwater plugs at first light. Landed 18 trout with several gator specks over 22 inches. Added a couple of redfish and a flounder for a lowcountry grand slam.

Tarpon exploding in the sound
Found tarpon busting bait near the Port Royal Sound bridge at dawn and free-lined live mullet into the melee. Hooked four silver kings and landed two after epic battles. The Hilton Head tarpon fishery runs from late May through August and it is absolutely electric.
