Mahi Mahi
Colorful and aggressive, mahi mahi are found around floating debris and weed lines off Kauai's south shore. Fish range from 10 to 40 pounds and provide spectacular fight-and-jump action. Best from spring through fall.
Ono (Wahoo)
Wahoo patrol the deep-water ledges off Kauai and are targeted with high-speed trolling and rigged baits. Fish average 25 to 50 pounds and provide the fastest fights in the Hawaiian fishery. Best from May through September.
Giant Trevally (Ulua)
Kauai is one of the premier destinations in Hawaii for giant trevally (GT), known locally as ulua. These powerful reef predators grow to over 100 pounds around Kauai's rocky shorelines, reef systems, and offshore pinnacles. Shore fishing for ulua is a deeply rooted Hawaiian tradition, and charter boats also target GTs over reef structure with live bait and popping lures. Ulua are available year-round, with the best shore fishing from late spring through fall.

Nawiliwili Harbor
In addition to Port Allen, a smaller fleet operates from Nawiliwili Harbor near Lihue on Kauai's east side. The east side fleet is limited but offers additional charter options for anglers staying in the Lihue area.
