Kailua-Kona is the undisputed capital of Pacific big game fishing, producing more grander blue marlin (over 1,000 pounds) than any other port in the world. The Kona Coast's deep blue water starts just offshore, with the 1,000-fathom ledge accessible in minutes. Year-round action for blue marlin, striped marlin, yellowfin tuna, mahi mahi, and ono (wahoo) makes Kona a year-round fishing destination. Honokohau Harbor is the main base for the legendary charter fleet.

Honolulu's Kewalo Basin Harbor is Oahu's primary departure point for deep sea fishing charters, located just minutes from Waikiki. The productive waters offshore hold blue marlin, striped marlin, yellowfin tuna, mahi mahi, and ono year-round. With quick access to deep water and the convenience of Hawaii's biggest city, Honolulu is the most accessible big game fishing destination in the islands.

Haleiwa is Oahu's legendary North Shore fishing port, offering a more laid-back alternative to Honolulu with access to productive offshore waters. The North Shore's deeper nearshore waters attract marlin, tuna, mahi mahi, and wahoo, with the added possibility of Grand Slam days. Haleiwa Small Boat Harbor is the base for a tight-knit community of experienced charter captains.

Lahaina is Maui's historic whaling town turned premier fishing destination, with Lahaina Harbor providing access to some of Hawaii's most productive big game waters. The deep Auau Channel between Maui and Lanai concentrates blue marlin, striped marlin, yellowfin tuna, mahi mahi, and ono. The famous "golden zone" from May through June produces the best marlin bite, though fishing is excellent year-round.

Port Allen on Kauai's south shore is the Garden Isle's primary charter fishing base, with quick access to productive offshore waters and the dramatic Na Pali Coast. Blue marlin, yellowfin tuna, mahi mahi, ono, and giant trevally are caught year-round in waters that see far less fishing pressure than Oahu or Kona. The stunning backdrop of Kauai's lush mountains adds to every trip.

Poipu is Kauai's sunny south shore resort area, offering easy access to Port Allen's charter fleet and excellent shore fishing along the rocky coastline. The offshore waters produce blue marlin, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, and mahi mahi, while the inshore reefs hold giant trevally, bonefish, and various reef species.
