Yellowfin tuna peak from May through July in the deep blue water east of the islands. Mahi mahi are plentiful from March through May along weed lines and debris.
A Typical Charter Day
Most deep sea charters depart from the Bimini Big Game Club or Resorts World Bimini marina between 7:00 and 8:00 AM. The run to the Gulf Stream takes just 15-20 minutes — one of the shortest in the Bahamas. Captains typically troll a spread of ballyhoo, lures, and teasers along current edges and temperature breaks. Half-day trips (4-5 hours) are available, but full-day trips give you the best shot at a trophy. Expect to pay $800-$1,500 for a half-day and $1,200-$2,500 for a full day.
