Orient Bay: Atlantic Side Fishing
Orient Bay is Saint Martin's most popular beach destination, known for its mile-long stretch of white sand and watersport operators. It faces the open Atlantic, giving anglers access to different conditions and sometimes different species than the calmer Caribbean side. It's about 25 minutes by taxi from the Philipsburg cruise terminal.
What to Catch
The Atlantic side produces kingfish, barracuda, mahi-mahi, and wahoo offshore. The reef system around Ilet Pinel (Pinel Island) just offshore holds snapper, grouper, and triggerfish. When the trade winds are manageable, the fishing on this side can be excellent because it receives less pressure than the leeward coast.
