Winter (December through February)
Winter steelhead make the Rogue a year-round fishery. These chrome-bright fish average 8 to 15 pounds and are considered among the finest steelhead on the West Coast. The lower Rogue from Gold Beach upstream to Agness fishes well throughout winter, and guides run jet boats daily when conditions allow. Ocean fishing is limited by winter storms, but calm days produce rockfish from the nearshore reefs. Dungeness crab season is in full swing in the small bay area.
