Yellowfin Tuna Smashing Surface Iron
Found a massive kelp paddy 30 miles out holding yellowfin tuna to 50 pounds. Cast Tady 45s and Salas 7X into the boils and it was game on — four YFT in the first hour. The school stayed up for hours and we finished with 12 yellowfin for a 6-pack. Sashimi-grade perfection.

Bluefin Tuna on the Kite
Deployed kite rigs with live mackerel and a 120-pound bluefin tuna inhaled the bait on the surface. The fight lasted 90 minutes on stand-up tackle — an absolute war. Also connected with two more bluefin to 80 pounds on fly-lined sardines. Newport Beach is the bluefin capital right now.

Dorado and Yellowtail at the Paddy
Located a healthy kelp paddy 22 miles southwest and it was loaded with dorado and yellowtail. The mahi were jumping on everything — live bait, jigs, poppers — and we filled the box with school-size dorado to 15 pounds plus three bonus yellowtail. Great mixed bag day offshore.
