Bluefin Madness Off the Coast
The bluefin tuna showed up 15 miles off Long Beach and we were in the right place at the right time. Flew a kite with a live sardine and a 180-pound bluefin ate it on the surface — 2.5-hour fight on 80-pound braid. Also boated two more school-size bluefin to 60 pounds on the troll.

Yellowtail Biting Wide Open at the Rigs
Hit the oil rigs off Long Beach and the yellowtail were chewing everything we threw at them. Live sardines, iron jigs, even surface poppers — didn't matter. Ended the day with 10 yellows from 15 to 28 pounds for a half-day charter. This is why we fish SoCal.

Calico Bass and Halibut Combo
Worked the Belmont Pier area and the rocky structure offshore for a nice calico bass and halibut combo day. Calicos were eating on the swimbaits to 4 pounds and we picked up three keeper halibut drifting live baits on the sandy transitions. Solid variety day close to port.
